Abstract

The incidence of Alzheimer’s disease increases with advancing age. This increase cause significant economic and emotional burden on family and national health care system which makes Alzheimer’s disease a national issue to be considered. Music therapy could be an alternative treatment approach in Alzheimer’s disease. Especially in the second stage of Alzheimer’s disease, growth and expansion of amyloid plaques results in anger and aggression among patients. Calming effects of music might be beneficial in management of patients during this period. This study is a systematic review of researches conducted to determine the effects of music therapy in Alzheimer’s diseases. In sum results have supported possible positive effects of music therapy on Alzheimer patients.
