Abstract
Dr Goodheart is called to see a little girl called, Zinhle, who, despite tuberculosis (TB) treatment, is failing to gain weight, has chronic anaemia, septic arthritis and a persistently raised CRP/ESR (a non-specific measure of inflammation). She is referred from a chronic-care facility where she was sent for rehabilitation of chronic septic arthritis of her ankle which was not responding adequately to treatment. She is wheelchair-bound and unable to walk.
