Abstract

Liquid soap is obtained from the saponification reaction between oil and fat as well as KOH. The oil that has an effect on the skin is coconut oil (Virgin Coconut Oil). Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) which contains vitamin C, water, potassium, fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin A, licopein, vitamin K, and citrulline amino acid. The content of  watermelon licopein can be used as an antioxidant to tighten the skin, this study aims to determine the filtrate of watermelon fruit (Citrullus lanatus) can be formulated into liquid bath soap preparations with good physical quality and to find out the preparation of liquid bath soap with the addition of watermelon filtrate (Citrullus lanatus) has potential as an antioxidant. The method used in this study is a laboratory experimental method. The antioxidant test in this study used the DPPH method. So after conducting research, it was found that watermelon filtrate contains flavonoids, terpenoids and saponins while the IC50 result on watermelon filtrate is 192.729 and in liquid bath soap preparations made from VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) with the addition of watermelon filtrate IC50 value is 91.919.
