Abstract

Background: In line with World Health Organization (WHO) call that no one should be in danger while serving at the hospital. Through various efforts Bogor Pulmonary Hospital showed its determination to provide a patient safety-oriented service, but in the last three years there have been 25 reports of patient safety incidents. Therefore, a Patient Safety Culture (PSC) implementation measurement is carried out.. Objective: Get an overview of the implementation of PSC in Bogor Pulmonary Hospital.. MethodQuantitative observational research of cross-sectional design, data is the result of Quality Committee survey result with the sample size of 222. PSC is measured using a Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPSC) instrument. Univariate analysis of positive response percentage and average values, bivariate with t-independent test. Results: Percentage of positive responses PSC 76,8%, with details of Teamwork (96,4%), Organizational Learning-Continuous Improvement (85,4%), Communication About Error (84,4%), Handoffs and Information Exchange (83,9%), Supervisor, Managers, Clinical Leader Support for Patient Safety (83,6%), Response to Error (75,1%), Communication Openness (74,4%), Hospital Management Support for Patient Safety (71,2%), Reporting Patient Safety Events (61,0%), and Staffing and Work Pace (52,1%). The results of the t-independent test showed mean difference in scores of Supervisor, Managers, Clinical Leader Support for Patient Safety on the length of work in the unit (P value 0,02), there is a mean difference in score of Hospital Management Support for Patient Safety for service staff in direct and non-direct contact with patients (P value 0,03), and there is a mean difference in score of Hospital Management Support for Patient Safety in working hours per week (P value 0,01) Conclusion: Implementation of PSC in Bogor Pulmonary Hospital at strong level, high performance, proactive, committed, patient safety prioritized over productivity.
