Abstract
Background: Maternal and infant health remains a critical global issue in efforts to enhance the quality of human life. Globally, one woman dies every hour due to complications arising during childbirth or pregnancy. A significant number of pregnant women lack awareness of the importance of antenatal examinations as a means to detect pregnancy risk factors. Insufficient knowledge and attitudes contribute to a lack of recognition of symptoms associated with serious health conditions, which indirectly contribute to maternal mortality. Objective: This study aimed to assess the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women following educational intervention through the Ebumil android application. Methods: The research employed a quasi-experimental design involving 120 pregnant women divided into an intervention group (educated using the Ebumil application) and a control group (not exposed to the application). Participants were selected using a simple random sampling method. The study variables included knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women, measured using validated questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using paired t-tests. Results: The findings indicated a significant improvement in the knowledge scores of the intervention group, increasing from 80.03 (post-test 1) to 90.50 (post-test 2), while the control group showed no significant change, with scores of 40.98 (post-test 1) and 40.50 (post-test 2). Similarly, attitudes in the intervention group improved from 78.16 (post-test 1) to 90.25 (post-test 2), whereas the control group displayed minimal change, with scores of 42.84 (post-test 1) and 42.35 (post-test 2). Statistical analysis using paired t-tests revealed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of the Ebumil application on the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding pregnancy care. Conclusion: The study concludes that educational interventions delivered through the Ebumil android application significantly enhance the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women concerning pregnancy care. It is recommended that pregnant women utilize this application to make informed decisions and take proactive steps in maintaining their pregnancy based on the knowledge gained through online education.
