Abstract

The volatility of liq. electrolytes has been a major problem for their application in dyesensitized solar cells (DSSC). In this study, liq. electrolyte was replaced by polymer based gel electrolyte. Polyvinyl alc. is chosen as the polymeric matrix to gelate the liq. electrolyte with iodidetriiodide redox couple and suitable org. solvent. The amorphous nature and the phys. cross linking formed between polymerpolymer and polymersolvent is analyzed from XRD and FT-IR. Cell was fabricated and characterization was done. I-V and EIS measurements of the cell was taken. Easy fabrication and its advantages over liq. electrolyte makes gel electrolyte a promising alternative for liq. electrolyte. [on SciFinder(R)]
