Study on the Determination of 14 Heavy Metals in the Soil by ICP-MS with Microwave Digestion

Abstract

In order to establish an efficient sample preparation method for heavy metal elements analysis in the soil samples, the effect of acid system, microwave digestion time and temperature were studied. 14 heavy metals, such as Be, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Mo, Cd, Sb, Tl, Pb, U, were analyzed by inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) under inductively coupled plasma collision mode. The results showed that the calibration curve of 14 heavy metals was linear and the limit of detection was in the range of 0.01–1.00 mg/kg. The precision was verified by certified reference soil samples, with relative standard deviation of 0.90–5.88%, which were both satisfactory.
