A família e o processo de adoecer de câncer bucal

Abstract

RESUMO. Considerando-se que a família participa na iniciação de comportamentos sociais dos indivíduos, o presente estudo teve como objetivo investigar sua participação na adoção de hábitos considerados como fatores de risco para o câncer. O perfil sociodemográfico da população estudada (32 mulheres portadoras de câncer bucal) caracterizou um quadro de pobreza social. Dentre os fatores de risco associados à doença predominaram o fumo e o álcool. Concluiu-se que a família, através dos processos de aprendizagem social e identificação, teve uma participação importante quanto à adoção das atitudes de risco. Considering that the family participates in the initiation of social behaviors of the individuals, the present study had the purpose to investigate its participation in the adoption of habits considered as risk factors of cancer. The socio-demographic profile of the studied population (32 women suffering from oral cancer) was representative of social poverty. Amongst the risk factors associated to the illness were: tobacco, alcohol, and the use of dental prostheses. It was concluded that the family, through processes of social learning and identification, plaid and important role on the adoption of the risk attitudes.
