Abstract

A new species of the 5tenasellus genus, 5tenasellus agiuranicus n. sp. (Crustacea Asellota Stenasellidae) found in the waters of Mugdile and Showli Berdi caves (southern Somalia) is described. This new species, the third found in Somalia's mesopotamian area, must be added to the other species of 5tenasellus found in East Africa (5. pardii Lanza, 1966; 5. costai Lanza et al. 1970; 5. migiurtinicus Messana et al. 1974; 5. kenyensis Magniez, 1975). With this new species, together with Acanthastenasellus forficuloides Chelazzi & Messana, 1985 a total of six species of Stenasellidae are found in this specific African area. CHELAZZI, L. & G.
