Abstract

Modern companies aim to increase the efficiency of logistics processes. Efficient logistics processes allow for the implementation of the goals with reduced use of resources. Bearing in mind the development of the concept of resources, authors in article focused on the conception of Physical Internet (PI). For the study purposes, authors of the paper has limited Physical Internet to sharing resources in supply chain. In the article, there are the results of a survey study that was performed among managers of active production and logistic companies in Poland’s territory. The study aimed at obtaining the managers’ opinion on whether it is possible to share inventories in supply chains. In the study one identified potential difficulties in sharing the inventories with respect to their division into material and non-material ones and possible supply chain functioning areas. In the areas it is possible to share the inventories.
