Abstract

In this study, I focus on the impact of European spatial policy and planning on the U.K. spatial planning system, as a case study to find the changing of spatial planning system under regional integration. First, I summarized the proceeding of European regional policy and spatial planning. In Chapter3, it is written that 1) the regional organizations were established by regionalism which raised by mainly EU regional policy, and 2)EU policy are taken account into Regional Planning Guidances. In Chapter4, it is made clear that National Plan thinking have been appeared after final agreement of ESDP. In conclusion, as European-level and regional-level are getting more important, the National Plan will have a role as a “conduit” between EU level and regional/local level, and national framework to regional planning. © 2003, The City Planning Institute of Japan.
