Abstract

This chapter demonstrates a broad overview of the background, preparation, and management of the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass patients, as well as the subsequent follow-up and support required. Included is an in-depth outline of key surgical principles of the laparoscopic method. There is additional discussion on specific considerations with robot-assisted gastric bypass. With each key step, pitfalls are discussed and suggestions are made. This allows for a thorough yet concise discussion of this very complex, challenging, yet rewarding patient population.
