Abstract

2-(Nitrooxy)ethan-1-aminium nitrate (C2H7N3O6, NOEAN), a green oxidizer, was obtained in a single-step synthesis through the nitration of ethanolamine. It has been fully characterized by various spectroscopic techniques and single-crystal X-ray analysis. Room-temperature stability, straightforward synthesis, scalability, and high thermal stability with excellent energetic properties make NOEAN a next-generation energetic material.
