Legitimacy, representation and decision-making: European Parliament and Parlasur in a comparative perspective

Abstract

This article aims to outline what is the function performed by the Mercosur Parliament (Parlasur) in Mercosur. Firstly, the paper discusses the European experience of empowering the parliamentary structure. Then, it analyzes in which way the acts produced by the members of the Parlasur influence the institution-strengthening strategy.
