Abstract

Sickle cell anemia causes systemic abnormalities related to hemolysis, anemia, and other hemoglobin abnormalities. This review describes the categories relating to abnormalities as well as the sonographic appearance visualized in the liver, gallbladder, spleen, and kidney. Increased awareness of hepatobiliary complications will enable more accurate diagnosis of pathology associated with sickle cell anemia. © 2010 The Author(s).
