Abstract
The hydrogeologic budget carried out during an abnormally wet period (1995-96) in four small lakes of the Campillos Natural Reserve (Málaga, Spain), shows a general behavior conditioned by the low permeability of the surrounding materials which indicates the occurrence of bank storage effects related to the distribution of the main rain inputs, as well as the incidence of intense evaporation during the summer. This trend shows local changes as a consecuence of the occurrence of important rain events during the study period. Furthermore, the net values of groundwater flows obtained in each lake point out the incidence of "regional" systems - besides the local ones - related to one of this lakes (Salada lake), whereas in other cases (Dulce lake) this hydrogeological conditioning seems to be of very little importance. © Asociación Española de Limnología.
