Abstract
Several reports of injuries sustained as a result of lightning strikes have previously been published. These, however, have principally recorded the results of the electrical component of the incident. The present article reports on a patient who survived a lightning strike but sustained extensive bilateral pulmonary contusions and a perforated tympanic membrane, both attributable to the blast wave alone.
