Abstract
The aim of this article is to provide a theoretical reflection based on the questioning of how the sociology of socialization and pragmatic sociology contribute to studies in the sociology of education, since researches which seek to associate these two theoretical currents are rare. Therefore, we assume that, although there are differences and similarities, the two theories are complementary and help to sociologically understand the human practice, and specifically in this text the teaching practice. To verify this hypothesis, the Franco-Portuguese- Brazilian literature that discusses these theories is used. The conclusion reached is that the two sociological currents together offer theoretical and methodological tools to carry out studies in sociology of education that are concerned with the complexity of acting, constitutive of the teaching profession.
