Obsidianas en sitios arqueológicos al sur del Lago Aluminé, Provincia Del Neuquén (Argentina)

Abstract

The results of the analysis of 30 samples of obsidian collected from 10 archaeological sites, two archaeological concentrations, two geological concentrations and one isolated artefact from south of lago Aluminé, in the west-central part of Neuquén Province, Argentina. Considering the proximity of the obsidian source in Nevadas de Sollipulli (Chile), it was expected that at least some of these samples could come from this area, but this proved to be unfounded since all the artifacts and nodules analyzed have a chemical composition similar to the type of obsidian first reported from the secondary source of Portada Covunco, 50 km northeast of the study area, and also more recently found in multiple primary sources 20-30 km to the northeast along the river Kilca.
