Abstract

The case was a 6 year old castrated male lion, weighing 170 kg, housed at the Samsun Municipality zoo. Prodiagnosis was determined as Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) according to the clinical examinations. ELISA test was positive for FIP antibodies. Although supportive therapy and antienflammatory drugs created a minor improvement, because of the great advance of the clinical symtoms, after a temporary improvement, 9 days later the lion died. In conclusion, this widespread disease is also encountered at our country, and therefore our opinion is that careful consideration and ELISA survey for this virus will be beneficial.
