Abstract
Today’s supply chains grapple with extensive complexity, necessitating the leverage of circularity for mitigation. This research explores how to manage complexity challenges in projects, supported by the circular economy framework. Drawing upon the theoretical framework of “Navigating Complexity” and “Project Management” standards, an integrated model is developed that incorporates circularity variables. Methodologically, a mixed-methods approach was employed, combining a bibliometric analysis, a literature review, and an analysis of bivariate relationships based on a census of Colombian manufacturing companies. The main findings and conclusions indicate that sustainable practices generate competitive advantages by reducing waste and optimizing resources, underscoring the importance of optimistic, realistic, and pessimistic scenarios. The study also highlights processes as the most influential variable, as their efficiency critically determines the success of circularity.
