Abstract

THE CHIRP Z-TRANSFORM (CZT) is an algorithm1 for computing the discrete fourier transform (DFT). Starting with the DFT definition N-1 Xk= Σ xne-127 Π nk/N n=0 and making the substitution 2nk - k2+ n2- (k-n)2the CZT equation results N-1 Σ Xk =(Xn e-iTfn IN) ei71(k-n) 2 IN n=0 The alogrithm has three steps: (J)-premultiplication of the xn by a complex chirp waveform. (2)-convolution in a filter having a complex chirp impulse response and. (3)-postmultiplicalion by a complex chirp waveform.
