Desde la desigualdad social hacia la vulnerabilidad rural frente a eventos climáticos extremos

Abstract

The article analyzes the progression from social inequality to vulnerability in the face of extreme weather events in the community of the village of Escalones in Boyacá, Colombia. Focus groups were used in this exploratory investigation, applying an adaptation of the well-being classification tool of the National Commission for Protected Natural Areas and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit. The analysis was done in the framework of the theoretical approach of the PAR model. It was found that social inequalities increase the vulnerability of the village's inhabitants since they manifest themselves in unsafe conditions that increase the possibility that a climate threat will become a disaster.En el artículo se analiza la progresión desde la desigualdad social hacia la vulnerabilidad frente a eventos climáticos extremos, en la comunidad de la vereda Escalones en Boyacá, Colombia. Esta es una investigación exploratoria en la que se usaron grupos focales, a los que se les aplicó una adaptación de la herramienta de clasificación de bienestar de la Comisión Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas y la Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbe it, y el análisis se hizo en el marco del enfoque teórico del modelo PAR. Se encontró que las desigualdades sociales aumentan la vulnerabilidad de los habitantes de la vereda, ya que se manifiestan en condiciones inseguras que aumentan la posibilidad de que una amenaza climática se convierta en un desastre.
