Abstract

The emergence of Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) is a paradigm shift in English Language Teaching (ELT). Due to the rampant use of mobile devices, there has been an influx of language practice resources anytime and anywhere for the language learners. This article reviews the growth and reliance of MALL in English teaching, its advantages, disadvantages, and why it has the potential to change the normal classroom learning. It is aimed at actual trends and case studies shedding light on mobile apps, social networks, and other technologies that facilitate language learning. The article presents some suggestions on how to adapt MALL in the teaching of the English language for improved results and as a response to the needs of the current generation students.
