Abstract

Stratigraphy and geologic structure of the Late Pleistocene clastic sequence in the Udo Hills, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, are described. The hills consist of thick alternating sequence of fluvio-deltaic gravels and shallow marine muddy deposits. The sequence is divided into five formations: the Negoya, Kunosan, Kusanagi, Oshika and Kuniyoshida Formations in upward sequence. The four formations overlying the Negoya Formation constitute a part of a large dome structure. The deformation started after the deposition of the Kunosan Formation. -from English summary
