Abstract
This paper presents a study about the influence of the institutional quality of the universities on the quality of initial teacher training. To this end 35 Chilean universities that have participated in the accreditation process of higher education in Chile were considered in the study. These institutions voluntarily participated in the test named Inicia Evaluation that was applied to recent graduates from the initial teacher training programs in Chile. A simple linear regression analysis was performed to analyze the relation between institutional quality and initial teacher training. The results show that institutional quality has an explanatory level of 55.1% on initial teacher training and therefore the proposed model is considered to be statistically significant (p <0.001).
