El 'problema educacional' entre 1920-1937: Una historia de reformas y limitaciones

Abstract

Between 1920, when the Mandatory Law on Primary Education was enacted, and 1937 which saw the enactment of a Law dealing construction of educational premises, the Chilean educational system became a sort of laboratory in which a large number of projects concocted in several efforts to find a definitive solution to the 'educational problem'. However, the manifold efforts did not derive in meaningful advances in so far as not even the 1920 law on mandatory primary education was fully implemented. This was the outcome of the lack of the political will and resources required.
