Abstract

The participation of silicon d orbitals in the siloxane bonds in H3COSiH3, H3SiOSiH3, and H3SiO-OSiH3 has been investigated by ab initio termination of geometric and electronic structures of these molecules, (p-d)x bonding in the Si-0 bond was found to be of minor importance, while the ionic character of the bond is much higher than that estimated from electronegativities. © 1980, American Chemical Society.
