Abstract
Cancer is a transformation of normal cells in the body into malignancy due to the induction of carcinogens. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in Indonesia. The field of treatment with inorganic compounds has been widely developed and shows better anticancer activity than organic compounds. This research aims to know the toxicity level of copper(II)chloride dihydrate compound using MTT method (3-4,5-dimethyltiazole-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide} in vitro test of breast cancer cell T74D. Toxicity in copper(II)chloride dihydrate obtained IC50 value of 29.021 μg/ml. The value of IC50 obtained <100 μg/ml so that the copper(II)chloride dihydrate compound belongs to the category of medium toxicity compound (medium toxic). Copper is potentially toxic to cells because copper charge can cause cell inactivation directly between metal-protein interactions.
