Abstract

This article has presented information on infectious diseases which are significant in health care settings and which may be spread from patient to patient, patient to health care worker, and health care worker to patient. Prevention and prophylaxis, where appropriate, have been described. The occupational health nurse and the employee health service have key roles in developing policies and implementing, managing, and evaluating prevention and treatment programs, as well as working closely with other departments which share responsibilities for the programs.
