Abstract

In the area along the northern flank of the Mount Hutt Range, Canterbury, deposition of alluvial fans is initiated in three ways: the sudden release of large quantities of sediment from the stream headwaters, the truncation of earlier formed fans, and erosion at the fan apex in the course of the normal cycle of erosion. © 1966 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
