Abstract

This paper discusses the use of Education Informatics in improving the quality of information literacy provided to doctoral students. As a discipline, Education Informatics is a combination of the disciplines of education, technology, and library science. The service of a librarian embedded in the course management system of one of the courses offered in a doctoral program served as the basis for this research. At the end of the course, an assessment was conducted of the service and the results confirmed that benefits could be gained from having a librarian available at the point of need. Easy accessibility to the librarian, the use of knowledge management, and custom-ized services were some of the benefits identified by the students.
