Vías e itinerarios de formación profesional: la persistencia de la asociación entre bajo rendimiento y opción profesional

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyse the profi le of young people who enter and progress through vocational training after compulsory schooling. We have used data from the student records of the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya for the cohort born in 2001, between the academic years 2016-17 and 2019-20. We reconstructed the pathways of CFGM students using an adaptation of the Lexis diagram, and compared the profile of these students with that of those who enter the academic track using a binomial logarithmic regression. The main finding is that there is still a very strong association between low performance or dropout and orientation towards vocational training.El objetivo del artículo es analizar el perfil de las personas jóvenes que acceden y transitan por la formación profesional después de la escuela obligatoria. Se han explotado los datos del registro de alumnado del Departamento de Educación de la Generalitat de Cataluña de la cohorte nacida en el año 2001, entre los cursos 2016-17 y 2019-20. Se han reconstruido los itinerarios del alumnado de formación profesional de grado medio a partir de una adaptación del diagrama de Lexis, y se ha comparado el perfil de este alumnado con el que accede a bachillerato a partir de una regresión logarítmica binomial. El principal hallazgo es que persiste una asociación muy fuerte entre bajo rendimiento o abandono de estudios y orientación hacia la formación profesional.
