Abstract
USA is the main mango (Mangifera indica L.) importer in the world, and México is its main supplier. The Mexican mango share in the US imports has decreased, while those from Peru, Brazil and Ecuador have grown in share. An analysis of the international mango market between USA and México is done here, by means of a simultaneous equations model. A 20 % increase in exports is simulated, enough to cause a reduction in the internal mango price in USA. Results show that such price decrease can be accommodated by an income increase, even when the production cost increases, the resulting cost benefit ratio is greater than one.
