Abstract
The XVIII World Federation of Neurology (WFN) World Congress on Parkinsons Disease and Related Disorders, held in Miami, FL, USA, included topics covering new therapeutic developments in this field. This conference report highlights selected presentations on the pathophysiology and treatment of these diseases, including the design of neuroprotective compounds, protein inhibition in the absence of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT), evaluating the striatal distribution of COMT, clinical results for PYM-50028 (Phytopharm plc) and ProSavin, and research into the use of stem cell treatments for Parkinsons disease. © Thomson Reuters (Scientific) Ltd.
