Abstract
The complex [(Au(PPh3)]2(8-qnS)]BF4 (8-qnS = quinoline-8-thiolate) with intramolecular gold(I)···gold(I) distances of 2.991(2) and 3.081(2) Å in two independent asymmetric units, shows a long-lived emission at 640 nm which is quenched by polar solvents such as acetonitrile and alcohol.
