Ambiente educacional y calidad de la docencia en la escuela de medicina

Abstract

The educational environment is a concept which is becoming more important in medical education for its impact on the process of teaching, learning and later working life. There are numerous tools for assessing the environment , according to the training cycle or rotation type . In the School of Medicine of the Catholic University of Chile have used DREEM and PHEEM surveys , complemented with other instruments applied to students, generated by the Center for Medical Education and the American Association of Medical Colleges ( AAMC ) in the context of the evaluation process of the School of Medicine . All these confirm that the educational environment is generally adequate. The strengths found are related to the academic environment and the quality of teachers. The missing elements are related to feedback , the evaluation process and social development areas . The constant measuring educational environment within the School of Medicine will enable us to detect future strengths , improve deficit areas and assess the impact of curricular changes . ( AU )
