Abstract

During the 1990's, farmers' organizations increased in number and the federation trend was strengthened. This allowed them to exert greater influence on defining agricultural policies, even if their proposals are taken into consideration differently according to the country and the sector. Those in charge of these organizations, by increasing their exchanges, have also come to understand the importance of being present in the agricultural discussion at the regional and international levels. They are thus able to raise the issue of public policies caring for the future of African agriculture, which still has a great deal of impact on the economies and societies of their countries.
