Abstract

The cost of competition in global wireless communications after several years has become increasingly high. Potential contenders in satellite communications must have money to burn in a high-risk environment; being first up in the air will not guarantee success. In terms of credibility, only the Odyssey (MEO) and Iridium (LEO) systems have been found to be sufficiently qualified legally, financially and technically. A look at this two systems is presented.
