Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the genetic diversity among 65 soybean genotypes with respect to to seed quality, produced in the offseason of 2010 in the town of Formoso do Araguaia - TO, under irrigated lowland conditions. For this purpose we used the tetrazolium tests, germination, field emergence and the weight of 100 seeds. The data were subjected to variance analysis with subsequent grouping of means by the Scott-Knott test. The genetic similarity was obtained through the Tocher clustering technique, based on Mahalanobis distance. The characteristic mass of 100 seeds, the first count of field emergence and seed viability, contributed 69.8% of genetic divergence. The cluster analysis detected genetic variability among genotypes, separating them into distinct groups. Genotypes AH10-008, AH10-020 and AH10-010 (Group I), together with BRS Valiosa RR, M 8585 RR, GB 881 and GB 874 (Group II) and AH10-023 (Group IV), having the property of producing high quality seeds and being different, are indicated for generating segregating populations.
