Abstract

In Japan, the amount of the carbon dioxide emission in the livelihood and the transportation section is remarkable. And it is assumed that the reduction of carbon dioxide emission can be achieved only on the transportation section. In this paper, economic effect was evaluated, that is the effect of price rise due to the carbon taxation on gasoline. Gasoline is used as fuels in the transportation section. To reduce the consumption, taxing the carbon tax to gasoline which car consumes. The basis of the tax rate applying carbon tax was not been discussed completely yet. Then the idea of demand price elasticity to gasoline is introduced to fix the character of gasoline as ̜goods̝. The carbon taxation basing on it, is used to calculate carbon tax rate on gasoline. The possibility of revenue and taxation was examined by carbon tax rate calculated. © 2001, JAPAN MACRO-ENGINEERS SOCIETY. All rights reserved.
