Territorial planning: a conceptual alternative for containment versus the unlimited expansion model

Abstract

The traditional expansionist drift on the territory leads to an unlimited consumption of resources, including the own territory, which should make us to think about the meaning of the concept of Territorial Planning, on how the territory is not the active element in this planning, giving priority, under criteria of sustainability, strategy we question, the planning of economic activities over the intrinsic characteristics of the environment and its finite resources, which are subjugated, in the limitbenefit equation, to the market economy’s rules, which do not know about finiteness in an environment subject to the vagaries of growth for growth. A change of paradigm is advocated for the benefit of limiting positions, decreasing in their objective, avoiding the depredation of the environment and contributing to the task against the disruptive effects of climate change.
