Social Justice, Social Determinants of Health, Interprofessional Practice and Community Engagement as Formative Elements of a Nurse Practitioner Managed Health Center

Abstract

Aim: This paper presents four key elements for developing infrastructure to address health disparities which are social justice, social determinants of health, interprofessional practice, and community engagement. Method: These elements are then illustrated within a nurse-led interprofessional practice exemplar. Conclusion: Using these key elements, there is great potential for developing and carrying out a community-based participatory research agenda to address health inequity within a nurse-led interprofessional practice setting.
