Abstract

Recent additions to the Adobe Flash library of functions implement data transfers between Flash and Java or Javascript. Using these functions, we linked Flash graphics to the NumberLinX (NLX) architecture for rapid construction of interactive simulations in Web pages. Calculated variables in an NLX model drive attributes in a Flash graphic during a simulation to change coordinates, sizes, shapes, or colors. The result is a simulation driven animation suitable for learning, entertainment, or business. With the NLX Model Builder wizard and integration of NLX into Adobe Dreamweaver, building an interactive graphic animation in a Web page - from model equation entry to visual layout - can be accomplished without coding in Java, Javascript, or HTML. © 2008 IEEE.
