Abstract
This article describes and reflects on the processes linked to the social mobilization experienced during the 1980s in Arica. Through the revision of primary sources and in-depth interviews, the text presents a follow-up framed in the development of the national protest days (1983-1986), emphasizing the processes of sociopolitical conflict and popular organization deployed by the opposition population regime, whose persistence during those years managed to articulate a social movement capable of facing the military dictatorship of Pinochet in the extreme north of Chile.
