Abstract

The onset of alopecia areata creates a roller coaster of emotions. Like the disease, a patient's emotions are unpredictable. The lack of control over one's body is both frightening and intimidating. Alopecia areata not only impacts an individual but it also has a halo effect, impacting family and friends, thereby increasing the number of people affected by the disease.
