Abstract

Superconductivity coexisting with antiferromagnetism in rare earth ternary compounds is discussed theoretically. Two effects of spatially periodic antiferromagnetic molecular field and of spin fluctuations on conduction electrons are taken into account. It is shown that the characteristic dips of the upper critical field Hc2near the Néel temperature in (RE)Mo6S8(RE=Gd, Tb and Dy) can be explained by the present theory, and the latter effect is important to interpret Hc2(T) of SmRh4B4. © 1980 IOP Publishing Ltd.
