Abstract

Readily prepared benzotriazol-1-ylmethyl isocyanide (BetMIC) reacts under mild conditions with ketones and aldehydes, to afford oxazolines (convertible into α-hydroxyaldehydes) and oxazoles, respectively. © 1989.
