Abstract
Objective: to describe the attitudes and practices of mothers regarding complementary feeding in children aged 6 to 24 months. Method: quantitative and cross-sectional study, in a sample of 58 mothers. The Guide was used to assess nutrition related knowledge, attitudes and practices. Results: according to the practices, it was identified that the food group most consumed by infants were grains, roots and tubers with 94.8% and the least consumed were those of legumes, nuts and dairy products with 44.8%. Regarding attitudes, 96.6% of mothers mentioned feeling safe when preparing their children's food and 62.1% perceived that it is good to continue giving breast milk after 6 months. Conclusion: lack of knowledge about complementary feeding leads to inappropriate practices. Therefore, it becomes a priority to implement and strengthen programs to support complementary feeding and breastfeeding. Descriptors: Supplementary Feeding; Maternal Behavior; Attitudes.
