The surgical treatment of prominent ears can be the easiest intervention of Aesthetic Surgery, but also can be the most committed from the point of view of results. In this paper we develop a classification of different types of prominent ears based on the anatomy of the antihelix and shell. This classification guide us on the surgical plan that we perform on every type of ear. We emphasize that, in our experience, 40% of the operated ears have required the reduction of the height of the auricular shell. This reduction guarantees, or at least partially, the approach of the ear to the skull. © 2014 Sociedad Española de Cirugía Plástica, Reparadora y Estética (SECPRE).
